Cosmetology
This course provides education in current and emerging technology in the scientific and practical study of beauty culture with instruction in the care and beautification of hair, skin, and nails.
Practical skills and related knowledge are taught through theory classes and laboratory experiences. Instructions include, but are not limited to, tasks listed in the course outline.
Classes are designed to prepare the student for the Alabama licensing examination after the completion of 1500 clock hours or 1200 credit unit hours.
Employment opportunities for cosmetologists are expected to grow faster than the average occupation. With completion of training and acquired license, career and job opportunities include: cosmetologist, instructor, make-up artist, platform artist, salon owner, shampoo assistant, and nail technician.
